A month and some change ago Lorde came back into our lives with Solar Power. A single that fans hypothesized as the first of songs for a forthcoming album. The haters said this was a George Michael rip-off as if no one before GM rocked an acoustic strum and a good time. As you can read, I enjoyed this track and have been rinsing it for the 2/3 of summer so far and I plan to keep it in rotation until I put my white pants into the back of the closet for Labor Day.

After the chatter of the single, Lorde came out and said this was a return and an album would be on our streaming app of choice by the third Friday in August. Boring people had their usual low-hanging fruit comments that the photo was provocative and whatnot.

Provocative if it was 1950, when will we grow up and not be so put back about a women’s legs…

Anyways, three days ago my cohost of the podcast Details texted me a Spotify link to the album Free by Free LOL and said “Lord straight stole the album cover”

Free – Free (CD) - Discogs

Now I was curious did Lorde know about this? There’s no way Lorde or a music label did not think about this and often in our new lives on social media we can never just enjoy things we have to hold people accountable!!

Now if you are reading you may think this is boomer adjacent. Maybe that’s just the voice I have with the writing. However, once I received this text I googled “Lorde Free Album Cover” not the best for search results but to my surprise, nothing was reported about this homage.

Anyways we record and discuss this on the latest episode of details. I did think we were on to something but I also don’t care I just think it’s fascinating. This isn’t a new pose by any means so I think it’s fine.

Maybe this was all for you to just listen to the podcast.
